MOUNT ISA: THE OUTBACK OASIS
Mt Isa
THE FIRST MURAL
Unveiled on the 20th of September in 2019, Mt Isa was the first community to take the plunge into the arts and create a mural that represented their town, their story, and their landscape.
As the first mural in the Trailblazing the West art trail, we couldn't be prouder of the results! Have you seen the beautified water tank in Mt Isa yet?
If not, grab your maps and plan a trip - you won't want to miss it!

Mt Isa has always been noted for its picturesque landscape and coal mines, however the region also celebrates a gleaming mirage of colourful and unique flora and fauna that brings beauty, vibrancy and awe to the harshness of the country. Travel desolate dusty roads and open skies, to then see sudden waterfalls and tropics - truly, expect the unexpected when visiting this vibrant region!

You may even be lucky to sight a unique Kalkadoon Grasswren that inhabits the area near the water tank – and if not, you could always take a selfie with the giant one painted on the tank!
